John - aka @dawizonlineMy name is John (aka @dawizonline) and I decided to 'create' #SpankyouThursday as a bit of fun to 'spice up' the otherwise dull, colorless and (I feel) boring recommendation exercises like #thankyouthursday and #followfriday and others that you may participate in. All a bit of a pain, don't you think?

Now as you would know if you ever tried to start up something new and different, you can't do it all on your own, so I decided to run the idea past a young lady I only know from her wonderful 'interaction' with me on Twitter. It was the BEST move I could EVER have made.

Peggy - aka @PSCoachMeet Peggy (aka @PSCoach). She instantly 'clicked' with the idea I presented to her via DM and away she went, RTing it to her followers.

That simple message started the snowball rolling from the top of the hill, all the way across the World, and I will be forever grateful to Peggy for her efforts in making the FIRST #SpankyouThursday a success.

In recognition of Peggy's great PR work, and to further promote #SpankyouThursday, I kept Tweeting the following:

Well, there was 'confusion' amongst Twitterers as to what #SpankyouThursday was all about. My initial Tweet announcing it was as follows:

As the creator of #SpankyouThursday© I invite you 2 please particip8 and show some 'special' attention 2 your Twitter friends. *smiles*

I quickly followed it with this Tweet:

#SpankyouThursday© is a derivative of #ThankyouThursday Just another way to 'appreciate' your Twitter friends *smiles* Please particip8

I thought I had covered the bases but I was wrong. This was highlighted to me by one of my followers.

Becky - aka @polymerclaygalMeet Becky (aka @polymerclaygal).

I knew I wasn't adequately getting the message across, when I received this from her:

@polymerclaygal @dawizonline how come u r the only one I’ve seen do the spank me thing? Just curious. I’ve only ever heard of followfriday

I explained it all to her and then went about bombarding Twitter with my 'introduction' Tweets. I was waiting to get banned for supposed 'spamming' of the website, but luckily, that didn't eventuate.

Vicki - aka @VickiElamMeet Vicki (aka @VickiElam). I wasn't following Vicki, nor was she following me. "Ut Oh!" I thought. "Here we go. This has GOT to be a complaint."

My initial 'fears' were dispersed when, after I had contacted Vicki and discussed what was happening, I received the following:

By the time #FollowFriday started, I was beat, but I KNEW I had to get something up on the Internet to send people to that would explain #SpankYouThursday

As they say, "Necessity is the Mother of invention," and who am I to argue with that logic?
